National & Regional AGM’s
Notice from the Eastern Counties General Secretary
Whilst it may seem early to start talking about July, I am writing now to remind you all that the national and regional AGM’s are held then and it is important that every club is well represented at each. As we are often advised that people cannot attend due to clash of events i.e, holiday, presentation days etc it is hoped by reminding you now that any double booking can be avoided.
Sunday 9th July is the ECRHA AGM held at Ross Peers Sports Centre, Soham. To have a vote every club must have a representative present and to be eligible to enter EC leagues for 2017/18 season they must also have a representative attend the fixtures meeting which directly follows the AGM.
Sunday 16th July is the National AGM which in recent years has been held at the Marriott Hotel in Peterborough. For each club to retain it’s bond they must have a representative attend. Please note as this is a national event the arrangements for this are out of our hands and I will forward any communication to you nearer the time when received from Debbie Pughe, the National General Secretary.
I cannot stress the importance of attending both of these meetings. Whilst your Committees are involved in many aspects of your hockey, they need input from everyone involved in the sport, in particular players of all ages and abilities. Everyone is welcome to attend, not just club officials/secretaries so can you please ensure everyone within your club is made aware.
I know some clubs rely on being represented by proxy. Whilst this may help your club meet the above requirements, often outside members do not understand the running of your club and any particular issues you may have. Therefore it is always best if members within your club attend.
As always, should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
