Anglia
TV and the Famous Five. Remember reading about the five
from the East representing England next week in Germany, well, you can
see them on Anglia TV on Friday
evening, 16th July some time between 6pm and 7pm. Mat and Kristan Oaten,
Ricky Jupp, Kris Pay and Mat Conroy were all down at Priory School in
Hitchin last Monday evening practising their Roller Hockey skills for
the camera.
The interest in the famous five was sparked off after Keith Allen the new NRHA president contacted the TV news team telling them about our talented players who will be matched against the best in Europe. If time allows, I will be putting the action pictures of the team on the UkRollHockey website direct from Düsseldorf, Germany during the week of the championships. So, keep on checking your number one Roller Hockey photo website next week. Why not make it easy for yourself and add it to your favourites on your computer or even better, after getting UkRollerhockey on your explorer browser click on tools then internet options and finally click on Use Current then OK. Doing this will mean ever time you start Explorer your favourite Roller Hockey photo website will automatically load. Good luck boys. Gordon Morrison posted 15.07.04 |

The Early Years of Roller Hockey.
Roger Pout is in the process of
completing his second book on roller hockey. As a taster of what is to
come Roger has sent out a brief history 1904-2004
as
attached. Of great importance is
the mention of Keith Allen, Vice President Eastern Counties.
It says "Keith Allen, the only President of the NRHA since 1938, who under his managership enabled the England Men's National team to win the World Championship's Group "B" in 2000". EC have always acknowledged this as great accomplishment by someone who showed great dedication and commitment. This leads on to another story ... to do this Keith Allen pulled together an excellent management team. His negotiations and discussions ranged from the Pierre-Yves “PY” Gerbeau from France who operated the Millenium Dome, the President of the Indian Roller Hockey Association who helped in many practical ways, Sky Sports TV, getting sponsorship including an unlimited supply of bottled water from makers of San Pellegrino. The list could go on for a long while ... but suffice it to say Keith Allen is someone extraordinaire in not only organising the event, but managing the England Team to achieve this win and place us in the history book. posted 03.07.04 |
