Colchester Roller Hockey club was formed in 1993 providing traditional roller hockey for all ages literally from 5 to 60.
We have four active league teams Minors Intermediates Ladies and Seniors with a newly formed Veterans team.
League roller hockey is not street or inline hockey it's a very skilful non contact sport, we skate on quads using a short hockey stick and hard ball.
We are members of the National and Eastern Counties Roller hockey Association and play in the Eastern counties and Kent leagues.
The 40-minute game is played in a sports hall with 5 a side including the goalie. A team is normally consists of up to ten players who are substituted on and off the pitch during a game. The goalie is the only player who is required to wear a helmet together with heavy body Armour.
We train and play all of our home tournaments at the Manningtree sports centre just outside Colchester, this is a very good venue for us with its excellent sports hall and a essential spectator gallery.
England National Teams
Three of the Colchester Intermediate and one of the Minors team are currently (July 99) members of the National squad and represented England in France.

Four of Colchester Ladies are in the England squad and all participated in major International tournaments.
Between them they have attended everything that the England Ladies have played in this year the world championships in Argentina, International championships in Switzerland and Germany where England won the tournament.
Currently the Club has a Senior team in Division 3 within the Eastern counties league, a Minors Team (under 13 years old) within the Eastern counties Minors League and an Intermediate team in the Kent league and who are also playing in the Schoolboys League.

Colchester also has a Ladies team, which is rare within this sport, as there are only five Ladies teams in England.
The Ladies have been together for five years and mainly play against senior Men's teams. They play in the Eastern Counties Schoolboys league and also in the Ladies National league.
They travel as a team to Guernsey, every Easter and Peterborough, every August.

We are sponsored by a few local firms including Rollerworld, which has been responsible for the fine stock of high quality skaters in and around Colchester.

Last year we entered the club in three local carnivals Colchester, Ipswich and Clacton and you can see us in the Colchester carnival again this year.
